Humane Society rescues 6 sick, malnourished horses from Somerset Co. farm
The Somerset County Humane Society has rescued at least six sick horses from a local farm.
Officials said the horses were severely malnourished and some could barely stand. The horses were taken to a veterinarian.
Melissa Leonard, of the Somerset County Humane Society, said the rescue was part of an investigation they have been conducting for months.
“We have had a lot of offers from people trying to hold the horses,” Leonard said. “But, we would really like some who has previous experience dealing with horses that have been starved.”
Police said no charges will be filed against the owner of the farm because they gave up the horses voluntarily.
